Herd Bulls

Walking herd bulls have played a vital role in our operation, and we believe we have assembled some of the best in the business in our bull battery. The first two red bulls to walk our pastures, Ace and Red Fest, stamped our program, and are the foundation bloodlines of many of our females. Twin Chief genetics were added a few years later to give us outcross genetics and vigour. More recently we have bred and raised our two newest herdsires ourselves, FirePower and Rockstar, which will take the herd to the next level.

Credit Card was a standout from birth, so we just had to keep a piece of him-we sold full possession to Lakeview Simmentals at our 2010 bull sale (where he was our high selling black bull), but kept an in-herd semen interest. He is an outcross to our black program, and will be used extensively in our heifer pen. Homozygous Polled, heterozygous black.

We selected Rainmaker from Barry Labatte's leading edge program in 2010. When we saw the bull in January we knew we had to own him as he will take our black program to the next level. Muscle shape, mass, and stoutness, Rainmaker has it all. Homozygous black, Homozygous Polled.

A wise man once said 'every day is bull shopping day', and we couldn't agree more-we were stalled next to this awesome calf at National Trust 2009 and were so impressed with him, we followed him to the Bull Spectrum sale and had to own him. He is incredibly thick, and has to be seen to be truly appreciated-the hip and muscle shape in this bull is phenomenal. His stoutness, along with his cherry red color and strong blaze will make his progeny in high demand in the future-watch for them at the Shortgrass sale in 2012-they will be sale toppers if they look like him! Wow. We were fortunate enough to sit in on Mader's 21st annual bull sale and buy their lead-off bull-he looked awesome that day, but every time we see him, we think he just gets better. Another outcross pedigree for our herd, and one that will work, combining calving ease with outstanding growth and maternal numbers. We know his calves will be in demand-sweet females and soggy bulls is what everyone wants.

Rancher was selected for his maternal strengths, performance, and fertility. His calves are outstanding, females and bulls alike. Easy calving, and vigorous at birth, these calves are moderate but thick and soggy with tons of hair and excellent dispositions.

Player was selected for his performance, color pattern, and fertility. He has become the ‘Top Dog’ in our bull pen, and his calves are at the top of the pen too. Sweet females, and stout-made bulls; all in cherry red packages with lots of rib and hip.

Firepower was exceptional from birth, being from two black parents, and being homozygous polled. Another outcross pedigree for our red cows, Firepower is being used extensively in our heifer pen, siring moderate framed vigorous calves, with alot of thickness and muscle.

Rocky always got a lot of attention wherever he went, whether it be Farmfair, or the local Bull Congress (where he won Champion Single Bull as a yearling). With his outcross pedigree and his supreme thickness and depth of body, combined with his structural soundness, the decision was made to retain ownership and use him in our own herd. He did not disappoint; We will be anxiously awaiting the arrival of Rocky’s second calf crop of 60+ calves in the spring of ‘09. Rockstar’s first sons will sell in Veteran March 7, 2009.
